Why the Algarve

The gentlest introduction to playing padel abroad.

Lagos is a two and a half hour flight from most UK airports, mild all winter, and small enough that you never need a taxi. The club we use has a dedicated teaching court, which means beginners get taught properly instead of being thrown into a doubles game and hoping.

01

Built for improvers

Roughly half of each group has played fewer than 20 times. Nobody is the weakest player here for long.

02

More coaching per day

Three hours of coaching daily — the highest ratio of any VamosPadel trip.

03

Short, cheap flights

Faro is served from 15 UK airports, often under £80 return in winter.

04

Coast on your doorstep

Courts in the morning, cliff walks and seafood in the afternoon. Partners who don't play still have a week.

The week

Five nights, three coached hours a day.

Day 1

Arrive and assess

Transfer from Faro, a relaxed 90-minute assessment session on court, then a welcome dinner of grilled fish by the marina.

Day 2

Grip, wall, scoring

The fundamentals block: continental grip, playing the ball off the back wall, and scoring until it's automatic. Afternoon americano.

Day 3

The bandeja and the net

Learning the shot that defines padel, plus how to move to the net as a pair. Video review over lunch, doubles from 4pm.

Day 4

Points, not shots

Coaching on point construction, the lob, and what to do when you're under pressure. Evening off for Lagos old town.

Day 5

Club tournament

Levelled round-robin tournament against each other and a few club members, followed by presentations and a long closing dinner.

Day 6

Fly home

Breakfast, optional morning hit, then transfers back to Faro.

If you've never held a padel racket, this is the trip. If you're a 4.0 league player, take a look at Marbella instead — you'll get better matches.

Courts, coaches & beds

A coastal aparthotel, ten minutes from the courts.

Twin-share apartments with kitchenettes, a pool and breakfast included, a short walk from the beach and a ten-minute shuttle from the club. Quiet, comfortable and deliberately unflashy.
